“The Mater White Belt programme has been a great learning and networking opportunity for my colleagues and I. The programme provides the tools and examples to assist in the learning of the basic lean principles from a healthcare perspective. The day is well structured and informative, the lectures are well delivered and the sharing of examples within the healthcare sector is very beneficial. I would highly recommend attending.
The lean programme in the Mater Hospital strives to achieve and maintain efficiencies in the system that offer benefits to patient and staff alike allowing better utilisation of our best resource - our staff.
Thanks to the Mater Lean Academy, we now have over 100 staff members trained in the Lean White Belt Programme and several others in the Green Belt Programme. The simplicity of the Lean metrics, coupled with the practical, hands-on approach by the Mater Lean Academy facilitators, has given our staff great confidence in pursuing service improvements at every level. It has changed the way we as a hospital and organisation have approached quality and service improvement. We are now using the tools routinely to measure what we are doing with a view to doing things better. The Mater Lean Academy facilitators are always on hand to support our projects and to offer advice.
The Lean programme delivered in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital by Sean Paul Teeling and the team from the Mater Lean Academy was a great success. We received excellent feedback from all the staff and some have continued to progress on their Lean journey. Applying the lean principles to various projects within the hospital will benefit our staff and our patients.
Delighted to have been given an opportunity to attend the Mater Hospitals Lean White Belt Programme. Not only did this day deliver in terms of learning the high level principles and tools of Lean Management, it also afforded us all the opportunity to reflect on our individual work streams, network, and engage with other healthcare professionals. There is such commonality in the challenges each healthcare professional is exposed to and I was delighted to see the Lean Academy structure fosters a networking approach - encouraging us to learn from each other and build upon our knowledge.Sean Paul’s enthusiasm for Lean Management was infectious and I left the course wanting to become a Master Black Belt – is this not testament enough for this programme – I am not sure what else is!
I gained a real understanding of how the Lean principles can be applied to health care and how also the principles can bring real benefits to my department. I really enjoyed the white belt training day. I would recommend the day to all staff, it certainly left me thirsty for more.
I was so pleased at the end of the White Belt Program that an Ah Ha! moment was realised, I could integrate Collaborative Inquiry with Lean Methodology mapped alongside Improvement Methodology which ticked all the boxes for me.
Sean Paul Teeling our Lean Six Sigma instructor was enthusiastic and energetic and has obviously mastered the material he presents. This was a very enjoyable course and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to enhance their knowledge in the area of process change management
